The Sleep Study Kickstarter isn’t going to make goal

This is why you should pledge a couple bucks anyway.

The truth can be harsh.

With only hours to go and falling $23,000 short of Sleep Study’s goal, a successful funding is extremely unlikely at this point. Stranger things have happened. We might see a wealthy angel investor swoop in at the last minute and fund us, but we’re not exactly holding our breath.

None of our generous donors will be charged. We’re not getting any money. Sleep Study is not going to be produced.

Yet.

We’ll come back to it in a year or so, better prepared, ideally with a broader fan-base, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about today. Suffice it to say that while we’re of course disappointed, we are not discouraged, and Burning Brigid Media has other projects to move on to.

No, I’m here to tell you that you should still pledge a few bucks to the project in the hours that remain.

Five reasons why you should still donate

1. It’s zero risk

Honestly, we’re not reaching goal. You won’t be charged. Yeah, we’ll see more donations, but unless twenty-two thousand people each chip in a buck, you’re not going to pay anything. And if that miracle happens… you’re out a buck.

2. Symbolic gestures matter

Pledging tells us that you care about what we stand for. It tells other people that you care about representation in media, or just good storytelling. It’s encouraging, and appreciated.

3. It tells us you care

If you let us know that you support us, we know that you’re interested in hearing about what else we’ve got coming up. And we’ve got some cool stuff coming up.

4. There are other ways to support us

Even though the Kickstarter was a bust, dozens of people put their money where there mouths are to support Sleep Study. There are other non-Kickstarter ways to help make it happen, or to otherwise show support for Burning Brigid’s goals and methods. Donate, and we’ll tell you how.

5. It encourages other people

Even at the 11th hour, donating encourages other people to donate. Kickstarter pages don’t just vanish afterwards, and the more donors we had at the end the better the idea looks to those who come after. And hey, you personally still get credit for trying.

So go on. Drop a few bucks in the hat. It’s a kind gesture, and you’ll get them back in a few hours.
